2011 Fall Harvest Celebration

February 12, 2012

Ok. This is a really late post. I’ve been on sabbatical as part of a Rowland Foundation Fellowship and have been away from this site.

The 3rd Annual MHS Fall Harvest Celebration was a huge success. A school-wide event held on the day before Thanksgiving vacation, featured a 100% local meal that included vegetables and greens from our school’s greenhouse and gardens. Students presented class work that highlighted the nutritional benefits of the meal, revealed the results of a trash audit associated with the composting and recycling program, and told of harvest celebrations in other cultures. A student-made film featured interviews with farmers that grew the food in our meal. AND entertainment was provided by a variety of student and faculty musical performances….including a hip hop finale with a break dancing circle!
Thanks to everyone that made this such a memorable event!
